Resistar
For composite roller rings on intermediate and finishing mills
In most intermediate and finishing blocks of wire rod mills, Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) and Tungsten Carbide (WC-Co) mill rollers are being widely used. But there are some problems in using DCI rollers. The mechanical properties of DCI rollers are too inferior to be used economically.
In other words, the life of DCI roller is so short, and then much time should be required to exchange the mill rollers. Unfortunately, Tungsten-Carbide (WC-Co) rollers can't be used in many cases such as cooling system isn't complete, the rollers have sharp shape in used part as dog-bone roller for deformed bar, the diameter of caliber is a little big and consequently the roller must suffer the heat for long time caused by the direct contact with products of high temperature.
To cope with this problem, a new material RESISTAR was developed, a centrifugally casted high speed steel. The hardness that can be adjusted according to your request in range of 52~64 HrC increases the life of rollers and our own manufacturing process such as centrifugal casting make our rollers preserve the mechanical properties in spite of the high working temperature.
Advantages of RESISTAR® Composite Mill Roller Rings
The performance of RESISTAR MILL ROLLER on several rod mills has proved the clear superiority of centrifugally casted high speed steel over traditional materials.
RESISTAR Composite Mill Roller rings are supplied ‘grooved’ with ground surface optionally.
